Apple unveils iPhone 7: Water resistant, faster, new camera

San Francisco - Apple unveiled new iPhone models Wednesday, featuring a water-resistant design, upgraded camera system and faster processor, betting that after six annual iterations it can still make improvements enticing enough to lure buyers to their next upgrade.
The iPhone’s main improvement revolves around the new camera. Past models have had only one lens on the back, but the new version features a dual-lens system on the larger iPhone 7 Plus.
The technology allows for sharper, brighter photos with better ability to zoom without degrading quality.

Apple released a few details about the new phone on its Twitter account while Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook was giving a presentation at an event at San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.
Even as iPhone demand has waned in recent quarters, partly due to the lull between product launches, the device continues to be the biggest source of Apple’s revenue.
The iPhone is at the centre of an ecosystem of products from Apple TV to the Apple Watch that are designed to function in connection with it.

The new models will be critical to the holiday quarter, and the world’s most valuable company is counting on them to prop up sales ahead of an expected overhaul of the line in 2017, the iPhone’s 10th anniversary.

Nintendo soars as Super Mario mobile game comes to the iPhone
(Bloomberg) - Super Mario is finally coming to the iPhone.
Nintendo said Wednesday it will release Super Mario Run in Apple’s App Store in December.
Shigeru Miyamoto, one of the creators of the original Mario game, gave a short demonstration of the game at Apple’s annual iPhone release event.
A basic version of Super Mario Run will be free to download, but users will have to pay to play the entire game. The company didn’t say when the game would be available for Android devices.
Investors and fans have been pushing Nintendo to bring its most popular characters to smartphones for years. The company’s American depositary receipts jumped as much as 30% in US trading following the announcement.
Nintendo has been slow to embrace smartphones.
After years of resisting making games for devices made by other companies, it announced a partnership with DeNA, a Japanese company.
The two companies released their first app earlier this year, which became the most popular Android app in six countries and the most popular iPhone app in 10 countries soon after its release, according to the research firm App Annie. Just as quickly, it dropped from the top of the app charts.
Nintendo’s stock also temporarily skyrocketed this summer after the release of Pokemon Go, the most successful mobile game ever.
But Nintendo shares plummeted as investors realized how little Nintendo would benefit from the Pokemon craze, given that it played only an indirect role in the app’s creation.
Nintendo said it plans to release mobile games for its Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem franchises by March.
