UK to fund KES 4.5 bn port upgrade

Nairobi - In a bid to improve efficiency at the Mombasa port, the British government has announced a KES 4.5 billion funding for its modernisation, Capital News reports.
Speaking at the port of Mombasa, British High Commissioner to Kenya Christian Turner said the funds will be used for the improvement of road and rail linkages and terminals within the port to ease congestion of cargo.
He said that the investment will lead to an improvement of transit time for cargo and benefit the economy by KES 100 billion once complete.
