Traders yet to reduce prices of basic commodities

Nairobi - Prices of some basic commodities are still high despite their exemption from Value Added Tax by Kenya Revenue Authority.
President Uhuru Kenyatta had directed KRA to clarify on the new VAT law after it emerged that some unscrupulous traders were taking advantage of the law and overcharging consumers, Daily Nation reports.
According to KRA, it was illegal to tax goods and services that are exempt or zero-rated from tax.
