Parking fees hiked to KES 300

Nairobi - It shall now cost you KES 300 a day to park your car in Nairobi, among other shock increases in service charges introduced by the county government.
Some of the services according to Daily Nation, have been raised by as much as 200 per cent following the new law assented to by Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero on Wednesday. Some of the services whose charges have risen are care in government hospitals and mortuary fees as well as the cost of running a business.
Hawkers have however been spared and will continue to hawk their wares and pay the same fee from before.
The move comes when Kenyans are already feeling the pinch from the sharp increase in consumer goods after the Value Added Tax law passed by Parliament in August started taking effect earlier this week.
