Nakumatt's global ranking

17 November 2011, 12:30 Alfred Nganga

Nairobi - Nakumatt Holdings has entered global ranks as it came up at number 28 in the CampdenFB Top 50 Global Challengers list, published in the current (Autumn 2011) edition of the authoritative CampdenFB (formerly Families in Business) magazine in conjunction with Ernst & Young.

The global research listing looked at revenue growth in local currency during the three-year period from 2008 until the end of 2010. The listing vindicates the fact that the world economy may be suffering, but many family business are growing faster than ever.

Family business are showing growth, as Nakumatt managed to post a 22% revenue growth over the past two years, with operations in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania branch set to open in coming weeks.

This also places Nakumatt, owned by Shah family at the top spot in the African family businesses with South Africa’s Pick N Pay associated with the Ackerman family closing in at position 41 making them the only companies on the list from Africa.
