Nairobi - The Standard reports Safaricom has blocked 1.3 million more unregistered subscribers bringing to 2.5 million the total number of SIM cards suspended since January.
According to Safaricom, the latest suspension was the final phase as the company complies with registration rules.
Safaricom’s Corporate Affairs Director Nzioka Waita said they have made SIM card registration a priority for the business because of the positive impact it is expected to have in assisting law enforcement agencies in the task of curbing social vices like fraud, terrorism and election related hate messages.
