MP wants to end Kenya Power Monopoly

Nairobi - Marakwet East MP David Bowen on Wednesday gave a Notice of Motion at the National Assembly to see to it that Kenya Power compensates Kenyans who incur losses due to power outages and surges, The Standard reports.
Bowen wants Kenya Power further wants the Government to liberalise power distribution arguing that the move would encourage competition thereby breaking the monopoly of Kenya Power.
Bowen lamented that power outages and surges have become a norm especially with the onset of heavy rains resulting in fires but Kenya Power never compensates the victims.
