Luxury brands flock to Kenya

Nairobi - Global luxury brands seeking to cash in on an expanding middle class in Kenya with higher disposable incomes are investing in the local market.
International brands are positioning themselves to exploit the growing appetite for the finer things in life — from clothes to shoes and drinks — leading to construction of shopping malls to house the stores stocking their labels, Business Daily reports.
Xavier Iraki, the MBA co-ordinator at the School of Business, University of Nairobi has noted that with increased income and exposure a growing number of Kenyans know which brands are status symbols and thus the increased demand for them.
