Nairobi - A proposal by Tullow Oil to move to a new exploration site at Twiga 2 oil site in Lokichar basin in Turkana South district, has been rejected by the area residents because it will interfere with pasture land.
According to The Standard, Tullow Oil and Ministry of Energy officials met with the Turkana elders at Lomokamar oil site in Lokichar basin on Sunday who demanded more consultations before Tullow oil is given a nod to explore oil in more wells in the region.
Paul Ekai, a Turkana elder said that their way of life should be respected as much as the exploration was taking place, because their animals need pasture.
