Kenya Power posts profits

Nairobi - Capital News reports that Kenya Power has posted a 2.8 percent rise in net profit to KES2.28 billion for the six months ended December 2011 driven by a marginal increase in electricity consumption.

Revenues rose to KES22 billion from the KES20.6 billion registered in the same period in 2010 on account of increased unit sales.

In a statement to the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), the firm said that they recorded a pre-tax profit of KES3.4 billion during the period under review compared to KES3.07 billion realized the same period the previous year an increase of KES327 million or 10.6 percent.
