Calabar - The first dedicated international convention centre being built in Nigeria is on track for its official opening in December 2014.
That was announced by the Governor of the Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke during a meeting with local and national stakeholders last month in Calabar.
Construction of the CICC started already in 2012 after an international design competition that was won by the well-known Danish architects Henning Larsen.
The centre is almost 60% complete. The first commercial events are expected from early 2015.
The CICC will be able to accommodate national and international congresses and any other type of meetings with delegate numbers for plenary sessions from 10 or 20 up to 2 000.
The total capacity of the centre will exceed 5 000 seats in twenty different venues.
From the spacious foyers of the centre the delegates will views on the Calabar River and its natural environment.
