Diaspora remittances drop as US govt shutdown enters day 13

Nairobi - The financial problems that led to US government shutdown have greatly affected Kenya’s diaspora remittances.
August remittances stood at KES 9.3 billion, Daily Nation reports, which is 500 million less than July remittances.
However, August remittances were higher than August last year’s remittances by 12.9 percent. Overall, most of the remittances were from North America.
