Nairobi - Mining Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has been sued by Cortec Mining-Kenya Ltd for cancelling its mining license.
Justice Weldon Korir heard a brief from the firm that said the decision to cancel the license was unlawful and that it would lose $600 billion (KES 53 trillion) in investments, Daily Nation reports.
The company also told the court that they had adhered to regulations and obtained approval from the National Environmental Management Authority to mine at a cost of KES 13 million, and seeked approval from the Kenya Forest Service and the County Council of Kwale, yet the minister revoked their license.
