Nairobi - Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore challenged authors and publishers to embrace the digital era and write books on mobile phone platforms so as to reach out to many users nationwide, Standard Digital reports.
Collymore acknowledged the fact that low income earners can't afford the expensive books that the Kenyan market has, thus sidelining this group of people, who also have a huge demand for knowledge in the country.
Speaking during the launch of motivational books co-published by Moran East Africa Publishers, Collymore gave an example using his telephone company, which pioneered the per second billing system as well as airtime recharge card that are as low as Sh5, thus catering for those in the low-income bracket too.
