Stop mocking democracy, President told

21 December 2015, 19:15

Windhoek - Namibian Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (DTA)'s leader, McHenry Venaanihas has reportedly lambasted President Hage Geingob over his lack of accountability.

According to The Namibian, Venaani held a press conference last week, during which he shared an open letter with the president, addressing important matters of national discourse.

This came following Geingob's recent utterances that he did not know how much he earned, mocking the press and making sarcastic comments about suspected figures.

Geingob was responding to accusations that he was being overpaid. The rumours had largely been fuelled by claims that the his six advisers earned more than his ministers.

Venaani said the public had a right to know how their money was spent.

He said his office had been attempting to hold consultations with Geingob for the past nine months to no avail, with Venaani adding that Geingob's conduct had created a backlash of democracy.
