South Sudan engages Zim to help craft education curriculum

21 June 2016, 21:04

Harare - South Sudan is reportedly working with Zimbabwe in its efforts to craft the east African country's education curriculum and viable national examination system.

South Sudan is Africa's youngest nation after it gained its independence from Sudan on 9 July 2011, that saw an end to a civil war that had plagued the two oil rich countries for years.

According to The Chronicle, the east African country was  now looking towards Zimbabwe, which was among the most literate countries in Africa, to help strengthen its education sector.

Zimbabwe was set to send retired educationists to South Sudan to assist in this process.

The educationists would also train South Sudanese school heads in capacity building programmes.

The two countries shared strong ties, with South Sudan having invited President Robert Mugabe to attend its fifth independence celebrations in July last year, according to a News24 report.
