Kampala – Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni's ally, Badru Ssebyala, has reportedly spoken highly of the east Africa head of state, likening him to a sugarcane.
Ssebyala said Museveni was getting better with age - in obvious support of the veteran leader's insistence on seeking another term, as the country gears up for the February 18 elections, according to Daily Monitor.
"Does sugarcane taste better when younger?," the Mayuge Resident District Commissioner (RDC) was quoted as saying, as he responded to comments by the opposition that Museveni was "too old" to continue leading the country.
Museveni, who is the leader of ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), is seeking a fifth term, having ruled the country for the past 30 years.
Despite Museveni running against seven candidates it is expected that he will win.
A newly released poll conducted by a Kampala-based research firm, Research World International indicated that Museveni will win the election with 51% of the votes.
