Man allegedly uses crutches to kill employer

Ermelo, SA - A man allegedly used crutches to beat to death his 84-year-old employer at his farm in Dirkiesdorp near Piet Retief, Mpumalanga police said.

Sergeant Gerald Sedibe said the employee, a Swazi national, was arrested on Saturday.

“Police were summoned regarding a murder that occurred at [a]... couple's house in a farm. When police arrived at the scene, they found the man, aged 84, lying in the bathroom.”

The elderly man who sustained serious injuries to the head and leg died on the scene.

His 55-year-old wife had also been attacked. She sustained serious injuries. 

The woman was rushed to hospital.

The reason for the attack is unknown.
