Ghana's Mahama calls Obasanjo 'stupid buffoon'

07 December 2015, 18:52

Lagos – Ghanaian President John Mahama and former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo reportedly exchanged insults in London recently over Goodluck Jonathan, who lost in the last presidential elections.

According to The Whistle, the heated exchange denigrated into "open insults", with Mahama losing his temper and calling Obasanjo "an idiot" and a "stupid buffoon".

This was after Obasanjo allegedly accused Mahama and his government of financing Jonathan’s election campaign. Obasanjo also reportedly lashed out at Mahama for blackmailing and collecting bribes from Nigerian businessmen in Ghana, buying numerous properties in Nigeria and South Africa.

A report by abusidiqu.com said Mahama was so infuriated that he pointed his finger at Obasanjo before ministers present as well as Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni calmed the tempers and ushered him (Mahama) to a nearby room.
