Al-Shabaab recruiting orphans aged 3-15 - Kenyan police

13 February 2016, 10:54

Mombasa - Kenyan police have reportedly revealed that the militant group, al-Shabaab, is recruiting minors at a Mombasa children's home.

The revelation was made by four young recruits who were arrested in Garissa on their way to Somalia early this year.

According to The Star, the recruits were aged between three and 15 years.

The orphanage has about 80 pupils, and charges only KES500 per term, with the poorest studying for free, reports the Daily Nation.

The boys were lured with promises of money, cars and wives.
