Stop using contraceptives, Zimbabweans told

27 May 2014, 14:32

Cape Town – Zimbabwe's registrar general Tobaiwa Mudede has reportedly urged Zimbabweans to stop using contraceptives which he says are a ploy by Western countries to retard population growth in Africa.

According to The Herald, Mudede said contraceptives were also conduits for pandemic diseases such as cancer.

Mudede said he had co-authored a book on population control which explained why people should desist from using contraceptives, urging Africans to sire as many children as possible.

Mudede said Zimbabwe could not become a super power if it continued to restrict population growth.

"Why do you want these foreign products?", Mudede was quoted as asking.

He said Nigeria had a population of more than 130 million and its economy was booming while countries like Zimbabwe, which were preoccupied with contraceptives, had subdued economies.

Mudede said most birth control methods were as bad as genetically modified organisms.
