Johannesburg - A man on trial for rape was alleged to have told a 12-year-old victim to "shake yourself, shake yourself" before sexually assaulting her in full view of her two friends.
One of the friends, who was 10-years-old at the time, took the stand at the high court, sitting in Palm Ridge on Thursday, to relay details of the harrowing ordeal she and her friends went through at the hands of Peter Dashboy Khoza.
Khoza faces 152 charges, including over 20 of rape.
The girl testified that the three had come across Khoza in Tembisa on the East Rand on Youth Day in 2012 while they were selling bangles to people in the township.
"He asked if we can show him a certain crèche in the area and we accompanied him. We passed by a park. We sat there for a while. While we were sitting, he said he had received a call from his grandmother and asked that we accompany him to her," said the young girl.
"We went with him and walked until we got to a bush. When we got to the bush, he said we should sit down on the ground. Once we sat down, he started smoking until it got late. He then said we must move from one side of the bushes to the other side," the soft-spoken girl testified.
They reached the other side of the bush, where they found blankets on the ground. Khoza was then alleged to have opened a large thick plastic bag which he had had in his possession and took out another blanket. He laid the thick plastic on the ground and instructed the girl's to sleep. He then covered them with the blanket.
"He asked if we trust him but we said no," said the girl, avoiding eye contact with Khoza who sat in the dock. "He covered us with the blanket and instructed us to sleep," the girl said.
The girl said she could not fall asleep and all she wanted to do was go home.
"He said to us that when our mothers ask of our whereabouts, we should not tell them we were with him, but we should say we were with an old woman who promised to buy the items we were selling," the girl said.
'He assaulted us'
Later that night, as all four of them slept in the bush, she noticed that Khoza was doing something with her friend.
Looking at her hands, the girl, dressed in a baby blue jersey and purple pants broke down and cried. "He raped [her],"she said.
"We saw him undressing [her] and then immediately after undressing her, he instructed [her] to shake herself... He said shake yourself... He wanted her to move her body," the girl, now 13-years-old, told the court.
The only clothing Khoza had on at that time was a T-shirt.
"When we tried to protect [her], he assaulted us," the girl said.
Seemingly frustrated by the two girls, Khoza was alleged to have chased them away, forcing them to leave their friend behind.
The two girls made their way through the bushes where they later came across another man, whom they asked for directions back home. They told him what had happened and he rushed them to a hospital.
"We asked him what time it was, and he said it was 01:00," the girl told the court.
Bite mark on his head
They were taken to the hospital and the police were called in. They again relayed the incident to the police who took them to help search for their missing friend.
"We went back to the place with the police, but we did not find her," she said.
"[My friend] came back at around 21:00 that night," the girl said.
The witness, however, testified she was able to identify Khoza at an identity parade because of a bite mark he had on his forehead.
Several of Khoza's alleged victims have taken the stand in the last few days.
He was alleged to have targeted girls around Tembisa during his rape spree in 2007 and 2011, but was also linked to rape cases in other provinces.
His youngest victim was only 6-years-old at the time. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Cross examination of the latest witness to take to the stand had to be cut short after she told the court she was tired following her long trip from the Eastern Cape. She was expected to take the stand on Friday.
