Seychelles - The consumer price index in Seychelles rose 1.4 percent in November from a month earlier, pushing the year-on-year inflation rate to 5.1 percent, the highest since October 2009, data showed on Friday.
The National Bureau of Statistics data showed that the month-on-month increase in the index was driven largely by price rises for non-food items such as housing, water, electricity and gas, and restaurants and hotels.
The inflation rate in Seychelles surged as high as 63.3 percent after the Indian Ocean nation removed currency controls as part an IMF rescue package in 2008. But the inflation rate has been subdued since October 2009, when it was 25.6 percent.
