Sierra Leonean mayor held on links to mutiny

Freetown - A spokesperson for Sierra Leone's main opposition
party confirmed that the mayor of the city of Bo, the second largest in the
country, was detained for questioning in connection with rumours of a planned

The government recently launched an investigation into a
meeting that was rumoured to be planned between senior military officers, aimed
at destabilising the democratically elected government.
Although Sierra Leone just held its second election deemed
transparent, the West African nation of nearly six million is still recovering
from a civil war which ended in 2002.
