Red Pepper and Monitor still under police

Kampala - For the third day after the Monday raids on the premises of the The Red pepper publications and The Monitor newspaper, Uganda police are still camped at their offices.
According to The Star, the dailies offices were raided after the papers last week published a press release sent to them from General David Sejusa's lawyers, purporting that there was a plot on the lives of individuals opposed to President Museveni's move to have his son succeed him.
The Red Pepper has however been published today and they issued a statement on their website that reads “This copy that we have given the name ‘Freedom issue’ is a reminder of where we started as a media company and helps to revive our unfettered spirit in the fight for freedom, knowledge and the truth.”
