22 May 2015, 12:50

Kibaale – An 11-year old boy was hit with a stray bullet when police were attempting to disperse angered residents who were about to lynch a man accused of murder, reports the New Vision.

Besigye Musinguzi was hit in the left thigh on his way back home from fetching water when he came across the irate mob.

The police came to the rescue of shop keeper Daudi Bakundente who was being accused of killing his son.

The little boy was rushed to the Blue Star Clinic and then taken to the Mubende Hospital.

Officer in charge, David Otabong from the Kibaale police headquarters claimed the shooting was an accident as police were trying to disperse an angry mob who should not have taken the law into their own hands.

However Resident District Commissioner, Samuel Kisembo Araali has called for the arrest of the police constable responsible for firing live bullets during the commotion.
