Niger 'briefly issued passport to Gaddafi aide'

Tripoli - Niger issued a passport to a top advisor
of slain Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi but later revoked it, a senior
Nigerian military official said on Monday.
Speaking in the Libyan
capital, Colonel Djibou Tahirou said his country had issued a passport
to top Gaddafi aide Saleh Bashir who oversaw Libyan investments in
"Niger issued the passport under the advice and pressure
of a European nation, which I will not name here," Colonel Djibo Tahirou
told journalists on the sidelines of a regional conference on
"It is true that the passport said he was a
[political] advisor although he never was," one to the government of
Niger, he said, adding that the passport had since been revoked.
