NTV journalist dies in car crash

Kampala – An untimely road accident which happened on Saturday along the Masaka-Kampala highway has claimed the life of three people, including television journalist and beauty queen, Resty Namawejje, reports the Daily Monitor.
Miss Tourism Northern Uganda 2014 lost her life along with another passenger, Barbara Nakiwolo when the driver of the Prado lost control.
Other passengers suffered severe injuries; Patrick Muhiire, an official working with the Uganda Tourism Board; David Gumisiriza, an NTV cameraman; Jullian Kyomuhendo, a journalist with ABS TV; Betty Kyachwo and Rehema Najjengo both students at Makerere University and a one Ivan Sebbuuma are being treated at the Mulago Hospital.
The driver of the Prado was attempting to overtake a vehicle which would not let them pass.
The group was en route to the Miss Tourism beauty pageant for Western Uganda.
Police official, Phillip Musaka says the Prado driver acted irresponsibly and did not comply with the rules where he was transporting nine people over the six passenger limit.
Upon hearing the tragic news one of Namawejje’s work colleagues commented that, "She has been a hardworking lady and in fact, she has been killed while on duty. We shall greatly miss her.”
