Abidjan - Rivals contesting Laurent Gbagbo's claim to the presidency of Ivory Coast declared on Sunday they had formed a new government for the country under the incumbent prime minister, former rebel Guillaume Soro.
Soro's spokesperson Sindou Meite read out to reporters a list of 13 people named ministers in the government, all allies of Alassane Ouattara, who like the incumbent Gbagbo has declared himself president after a disputed election.
At the top of the list was Soro with the double role of prime minister and defence minister.
"This decree overrides any previous measures," Meite said, reading from the declaration.
On Saturday, Soro recognised Ouattara as president and offered him his resignation.
Soro became prime minister under a peace pact signed in 2007, five years after the country was split in two by conflict following a foiled coup bid against Gbagbo.
