Algeria - Algeria will help Libya to create an army and a police force, Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci said on Thursday, three days after a visit to Tripoli where he had talks with his Libyan counterpart."The talks [with Libya's new leaders] touched on how to help them create an army and police," Medelci said on the sidelines of celebrations marking International Women's Day which were attended by President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.Medelci said he also discussed the security situation on the two country's long border with Libyan Foreign Minister Ashur bin Khayyal."Libya has the means to leave this transition period behind it, and we will help it as much as we can," APS news agency quoted Medelci as saying.Medelci said he told Libya's new leaders that those members of the family of late leader Muammar Gaddafi who sought refuge in Algeria will not be able "to touch a single hair of the Libyan people".Algeria "received them for humanitarian reasons", he had said in Tripoli, declining to answer if Algeria was being asked to hand over family members.Algeria gave shelter last August to Gaddafi’s daughter Aisha, her brother Hannibal, their mother Safiya – Gaddafi’s second wife - and the former strongman's eldest son Mohammed.Aisha angered her hosts in November when she called for the overthrow of Libya's interim government.- AFP
