Rabat - Twenty-six people were killed in Morocco when a bus plunged into a river and was swept away by flood waters, officials said on Wednesday.
The accident occurred on the road linking Casablanca with Bouznika, south of the capital Rabat on Tuesday.
The bodies of two people, including a member of the rescue team, were later retrieved from the river.
Eight more people were reported to have died in flooding caused by heavy rains around the country. Some were swept away by currents, while others were hit by collapsing buildings.
Flooding severed road links and hampered air and rail traffic, report said.
